Monster Project

Latin 1-2

 

Monsters are an overlooked yet fascinating part of Greco-Roman mythology.  Therefore, I would like you to explore their influence on the myths handed down to us through the ages.  Your job is to choose a monster from the following list.  Then select a project to do, researching and describing that chosen monster.  Along with the project, you will need to write two sentences in Latin that the characters in the myth could logically have said.  You will also need to include your annotated bibliography of at least 3 sources.  Be prepared to present your project to the class!

Project Choices:

  1. Write a news story (or series of stories) concerning the major events in the life of the monster.  At least 1 page.
  2. Write an obituary of the monster after its death at the hands of a hero.  At least 1 page.
  3. Write the myth from the monster’s point of view. At least 1 page.
  4. Draw and caption a cartoon strip of the monster’s story. At least 1 page.
  5. Write and sing or record a song telling the monster’s story. At least 1 page.
  6. Group of 2: Prepare a script and record a radio broadcast or web cast involving the monster.  Consider using background noises and an interview or two.  At least 10 minutes long.
  7. Group of 3-4: Make an A&E video/DVD about a monster’s life and influence that is at least 15 minutes long.  You should have a written script.
  8. Group of 3-4: Write and direct your own play based on a monster’s myth.  This play should be performed live for the class, and be at least 15 minutes long.  Your script should include stage directions.  (If you give me enough notice, I will secure one of the auditoriums for our class that day)
